The then leaders of ISKCON observed his exceptional talents and leadership qualities and made him the President of ISKCON, Trivandrum. Gradually, in the year 1983, he became involved in overseeing the activities of ISKCON, Bangalore along with his responsibilities in Trivandrum temple. At that time ISKCON Bangalore was nestled in a rented apartment, a small cen tre in an inconspicuous neighbourhood of the city. From there, under his direction, they envisioned an iconic temple for Lord Krishna. They were allotted a 6.5-acre barren hillock by the Government of Karnataka for the construction of the temple. Over the next few years, they went door to door and raised donations of around 30 crores from the people of Bangalore. The barren hillock was soon transformed into a magnificent cultural complex and was named as the Hare Krishna Hill.
This iconic ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Rajajinagar, Bangalore was inaugurated by the then President of India, Sri Dayal Sharma, on May 21, 1997.
In the year 2000, Madhu Pandit Dasa initiated The Akshaya Patra Foundation, which has impacted millions of people in India and given them a better quality of life. The organisation was established in pursuance of the desire of Srila Prabhupada that no one, especially children should go hungry. He conceptualised state-of-the-art centralised kitchens for cooking and serving freshly cooked, hygienic food to children. Akshaya Patra started on a small scale, feeding mid-day meals to about 1500 students of 5 government schools in Bangalore. Currently, the Foundation provides over 2 million children every day across 15 states and 2 union territories of India. Akshaya Patra has been recognised as the world's largest NGO-run school lunch programme.
