Relief Operations for Flood-Hit Braj region
Over the past several days, the rising waters of the Yamuna submerged the holy towns of Mathura and Vrindavan, causing disruption to the daily lives of the residents. Many Brajvasis struggled to access even the daily necessities, with drinking water, electricity, and mobility severely affected.
Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir actively served Brajvasis in the most affected areas, such as Panigaon and Dhobighat, by reaching them with boats and providing essential relief. We supported more than 250 families who were unable to step out of their homes. We distributed 500 ration kits containing wheat flour, oil, milk packets, biscuits, and clean drinking water, giving families the necessary supplies to sustain themselves. We also distributed food door-to-door in other affected neighbourhoods. Our dedicated team personally oversaw the entire process of cooking and distribution, and we served approximately around 10,000 hot, freshly cooked meals across the affected areas.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation, which has long been serving mid-day meals to children and also feeding widow mothers in Braj, stepped into flood relief operations. We distributed food at two government relief centres for families displaced from their homes due to flooding, serving wholesome meals twice a day, reaching a total count of 21,000 meals. Further, Akshaya Patra is also planning to distribute ration kits to support affected families in the coming days.
We express our gratitude to the government administration and local organisations for their timely support. We are also deeply thankful to the hundreds of volunteers who tirelessly contributed to the relief operations. We stand by the Brajvasis in such difficult times, offering relief and support, and will always remain ready to extend our services.
