Srila Prabhupada Honoured as Vishwa Guru at Maha Kumbh Mela

February 10, 2025: During the sacred Maha Kumbh Mela, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON and the Worldwide Hare Krishna Movement, was honoured with the title of 'Vishwa Guru' by the Akhila Bharatiya Akhara Parishad for his unparalleled efforts in spreading Sanatana Dharma across the globe.

HH Mahant Ravindra Puri Ji Maharaj, President of the Akhara Parishad, Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Niranjani Akhara, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Avadhoot Arun Giri Ji Maharaj of Awahan Akhara, along with other revered Mahamandaleshwars, secretaries, and senior saints from various Akharas attended this historic. Thousands of devotees also participated in the celebrations.


Shri Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman and Mentor of the Global Hare Krishna Movement and President of ISKCON Bangalore, along with Shri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice Chairman and Co-Mentor of the Global Hare Krishna Movement and Senior Vice President of ISKCON Bangalore, presided over the event.

Srila Prabhupada was recognised for his unmatched contribution to reviving and globalising Sanatana Dharma, making it accessible to people beyond India’s shores. His selfless mission to propagate the teachings of Lord Krishna has transformed countless lives worldwide.

The event featured an elaborate abhisheka of Srila Prabhupada’s deity, a grand arati, and a ceremonial pushpa vrishti (showering of flowers) amidst sacred chants, celebrating his divine legacy.

The revered leaders of Akhara Parishad acknowledged Srila Prabhupada as an embodiment of Bhakti and Vedanta, emphasising that his historic contribution to spiritual upliftment deserves the highest recognition. The ISKCON community expressed gratitude for this honour, reaffirming its commitment to continuing its mission of spreading the wisdom of the Bhagavad-gita and the glories of Lord Krishna worldwide.
